The FEED (Fisheries Economic Enterprise
Development Company) is
Responsible for planning, implementation and control of microfinance functions
of the SFFL. Planning and control functions are handled at the Head Quarters
level by the Director. FEED Centres located at district level is
responsible for implementation of programs. Services provided to beneficiaries
in the districts through FEED Centres include micro savings,
micro lending, micro insurance and financial plus services.
Mr. E. Ariyadasa functions as the
Managing Director of the FEED Company. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons.) of University
of Ceylon, Colombo and M.Sc. of University of Sri Jayawardhanapura. He has
over twenty five years experience in public and private sector organizations in
the fields of business development services and planning & conducting of survey
research / studies.
SFFL and the
FEED try to manage micro-finance like a business by covering the cost of funds,
management, etc and even make a surplus to form a strong equity base. It is
their goal to keep their programmes financially viable and as a result FEEDs are
expected to earn all their expenses and more, from interest income. |
