As it is a grass root level membership organisation, the beneficiaries of the programmes implemented by the Federation are for the members of the Federation itself (small scale fisher families) and their communities. The Federation gives special reference to destitute women, widows and youngsters and children. The Federation’s network consists of 231 village organisations at the coast and inland and lagoons areas. The working areas of Social and Economic Development Programme of the Federation are Puttalam, Monaragala, Matara, Hambanthota and most recently Ampara.
